The Debate publishes two kinds of content, and we label them so you always know which is which.
Most of the edition is reporting from independent European journalists, republished in full under the reporting writer's own byline. We keep the reporter's words intact, add no advertising, and set out our sourcing and rights approach openly. We include only substantial articles and verify each byline before it is published as an author page. If you are a journalist or rights-holder and want an article amended or removed, email editor@thedebate.eu and we will act promptly.
Pieces marked THE DEBATE are our own work. Opinion is labelled as opinion. We separate news from comment, we do not accept payment for coverage, and we disclose conflicts of interest where they exist.
We aim to be accurate and fair. Where we quote figures, claims or documents we check them against the reporting they come from. When we get something wrong we say so, plainly and in place — see Corrections.
No political party, government or advertiser has any say over what we publish or how we frame it. See Ownership & funding.
